तत्त्ववित्तु महाबाहो गुणकर्मविभागयोः । गुणा गुणेषु वर्तन्त इति मत्वा न सज्जते ॥

But he, O mighty-armed, who knoweth the essence of the divisions of the qualities and functions, holding that "the qualities move amid the qualities," is not attached.

Explanation
The corrective to verse 27’s delusion: knowing that it’s gunas acting on gunas — senses, themselves material, engaging sense-objects, also material — rather than a self doing anything, is what actually produces non-attachment. This reframes non-attachment less as a moral effort of will and more as a consequence of correct metaphysical understanding, a thread the text develops much further in chapter 14.
